every neighborhood in the city of Bellingham have a personalized sign to welcome the people into their community. raised in the lettered streets, i discovered they were looking for an artist to create their sign and swiftly applied. Now here we are, feeling very blessed to have been chosen to create a piece for the neighborhood I grew up on. A surreal project and a big accomplishment of mine.
when creating the type, it was important to me to incorporate elements inspired by the architecture of the homes with in the lettered streets district. the homes and their appeal is something so prevalent when you think of the lettered streets as a whole. each and every detail with in the letters shown above are pieces you see from the craftsmanship of the lettered streets homes. the lettered streets neighborhood did not have a sign to welcome neighbors into their part of town.
Solution
creating a sign that resembles the neighborhood itself; quirky, friendly, playful, and people centered.
